Current thoughts

I guess I’ve been trying to re-create Scrievener, with ALL these branching, versioning, etc – without know that Scrievener exists.
Now I feel that I’m quite far from getting my idea made true; esp. if it s Crowdly platform, desktop, web (and mobile, which are yet to come) apps.
Scrievener is quite complex and what I’m trying to do is what Scrievener does, on a broader scale: Crowdly platform, web app (which Scrievener doesn’t have) additionally to desktop and mobile apps (which Scrievener have)
At time it feels overwhelming and to be honest at times my motivation plummets, esp. in those moments when I clearly undertand who I got myself into.
If I **consciously** knew about Scrievener earlier*, prior to starting this project, I would’ve approached this project differently

* I’ve heard about it before, but unfortunately never bothered to take a closer look, untill I’ve repeatedly seen on Reddit, that Scrievener is by far the most often recommended writing software – and I absolutely understand why that it the case.

The desktop app we did is quite good by now**, however it is miles away / behind Scrievener.

** (take a look onto our) master document functionality !!!

Veronika decides to live

I’m a visual person and since I discovered Milanote* I was able to move forward further in writing one of my stories.

It’s a continuation of “Veronika decides to die”, which is called “Veronika decides to live“.

You can follow the creation of the story on https://github.com/leoloveisme/veronika

* Affiliate link (If you make an account using the link, I’ll get 20 more elements, which I’ll be able to use in my creative space(s) on Milanote*. It would cost you NOTHING at all and your generosity would ENORMOUSLY benefit me.)

A current thought about vibe coding

What irritates me about “vibe coding” is, that, at times, it breaks the functionality, which were working before, when you tell the vibe coder of your choice to add some additional functionalities, features, yo name it… and if you don’t pay attention, the change may / will become hidden in the code, behind several pushes to your git server, and if one doesn’t know git well, one is going to / will face some difficulties.

2025 year-end results

Year-end results

In that almost ended year I:

almost moved to Algarve (south Portugal) and got pneumonia there
I didn’t stay there because of financial reasons
created MVP for Crowdly – multi creator / crowd created entertainment entertainment platform
https://github.com/leoloveisme/crowdly
first time was in Croatia and lived / discovered croatian island life for a while
I very much liked Croatia. Maybe some day I’ll travel there more and discover more of the country.
bought an electro-piano and made some progress in my musical literacy (incl. music theory)
In fact, I’ve probably advanced more in music theory, than in playing the instrument itself.
moved forward a little in creation of the story of Veronika – the continuation story of Veronika and Eduard from “Veronika decides to die”

Remarkable Paper Pro – give us data export functionality

I fell for a manipulation.
Remarkable offers you 100 days of test using of the device and doesn’t offer a comfortable exporting of all the data one creates on the device and if one uses the device quite extensively, like I did, and one cannot export all this data neatly packed into directories and sub-directories, one gets somewhat stuck with the device – which was and still is the case with me.
Because I used the device quite extensively I accumulated and created quite a lot of data, even though I couldn’t use / utilize the device to the full extend.
The alternative was found in the form of Onyx Boox Note Air 4 C. (I bought it a couple of months ago, for the same money I could buy Boox Note Air 5 C now.)
The device offers a whole lot more in terms of functionality and lets me utilize the device for creating in several languages in various different languages groups, such as Russian, Arabic and Persian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese and of course a few Latin (based) languages such as English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, German, etc.
If I could export ALL my data I have on my RPP in the neat and organized form I have it there now, I ABSOLUTELY would take the data and ditch the device for as much money as I could sell it.
That there is NO usable export feature on RPP devices is, as I see it, intentional, because, if people could export their data, they absolutely would. At least I would. ABSOLUTELY.
Onyx Boox devices have some way to go in terms of usability, however they compensate for that in features they provide.

The best tool to create a mock-up for your product I currently know

is Lovable.
It will be not the most beautiful one, however in many instances it will be a quite extensively clickable one and the beauty of it, if you write very detailed app / platform / product description it will create your mock-up in one go / in one credit, which you have five of, free, daily, which means you can potentially create up to five mock-ups per day, which is from my point of view is simply beautiful.
Most of them will be in Lovable preferred colors unless you specify the colors in the platform description, too.
At the time of the writing this text, I’m (currently) not affiliated with them in any shape or form.
This is just a heart-felt experience / share and absolutely not a recommendation (I don’t want to be sued by you, pick your choices yourself and very carefully)

Basic components of an amazing software by a minimalist – podcast on Spotify

Basic components of an amazing software (from my point of view):

– software must work reliably (without hitches and glitches)

– identified bugs must be eliminated immediately

– the target has to be reached with minimal amount of clicks and reloads

– software may be not beautiful however it must be logical, be logically understood, be intuitive as much as possible and reliable

– software should be free from unnecessary code (minimalism – the less code the better)

– software must be modular(ly built and modules can be replaced any time without any harm to the functionality of the software)

– software has to be versioned by default

– software has to be protected from spam

– software has to be as fast as it is possible

What did I forget? What can (and should) be added here, from minimalists point of view? (when nothing else can be deleted anymore)

Dear Netflix senior management

I don’t mean to brag however several years ago when I contacted Remarkable and asked them about the color version of their device the answer was that they are currently not looking into this direction and don’t have any plans to make their device color enabled. Now they have one.

If you visit the section “My dreams” on this / my personal website you’ll see why Netflix should embrace AI video and text generation and enable people to create their (crowd-created) content directly on your platform, with monetisation like Youtube / Pornhub, etc

Feel free to pay me some small “peanuts” for sharing my idea with you in more details. We can do a video call first and you can gladly fly me into sunny California, as well.

Browsers: Brave vs. Vivaldi

Vivaldi won (for me personally), even though they are very similar.
Watch the video, if you want to know more.

There is a lot of praise for Arc browser and from what I’ve seen – it seems to be a good browser, however it isn’t available neither for Linux nor for Android

HelloTalk Adult

I really wish there would be dating + language exchange platforms / apps and something similar to HelloTalk (in functionality)

or maybe HelloTalk can clone the existing functionality and create “HelloTalk Adult”

I would sign for such a platform / an app

Inspiration could be “picked up” by looking onto existing dating apps / platforms like OK Cupid, Bumble, Once, Badoo, etc

Most of them (if even not all of them) lack Moments functionality and Voice / Video communication functionality like Clubhouse / Whatsapp / Telegram / Wechat, etc

Short HelloTalk and Tandem comparison

What Tandem is doing better that HelloTalk:

Tandem

+ has full web version of their app
+ allows 8 languages for free (instead of only one language in HelloTalk)
+ voice messages are not only 60 seconds long like at HelloTalk (HelloTalk allows only 60 seconds long voice messages, which is a shame)

What HelloTalk is doing better than Tandem:

+ way better functionality; there are many useful features such as:

  • deleteable messages (!!!)
  • one can quote-reply to ALL messages (!!!)

and many others … If you’d like to know which exactly – ask me.

I regularly submit new features to HelloTalk; let’s see if they will implement any of them.
If they do, I’ll feel happier.
